As video inspections become standard in automotive fixed operations, the quality of communication in those videos has emerged as a key differentiator for building customer confidence and closing service recommendations. TruVideo, the leading provider of AI-powered video and messaging communication technology for the transportation industry, has launched Video Quality Score (VQS) to address this need.

Quick Intel

  • VQS uses proprietary machine learning models trained on TruVideo's database of over 80 million automotive service videos, delivering accuracy more than 30 points higher than leading off-the-shelf AI models.
  • The model evaluates videos across two core dimensions: Content & Process (presence and explanation of required objects/steps) and Quality of Delivery (clarity, pace, speech quality, recording quality, and pauses).
  • Analysis of over 300,000 videos from pilots with 20 OEMs, 800 dealerships, and ~7,700 technicians reveals dealerships with VQS above 80 sell $59 more per repair order in parts and labor.
  • Only 1 in 10 dealerships achieve VQS above 80, highlighting significant room for improvement across the industry.
  • Consistent gaps exist in demonstrating high-value services—e.g., filters shown in only 6% of repair orders in one large dealer group study, representing a $3 million monthly revenue opportunity when improved.
  • VQS replaces manual video reviews with instant, scalable scoring to support coaching, consistency, and performance benchmarking.

"Every inspection video is a customer touchpoint. With VQS, dealers can see which moments are helping or hurting the customer experience and what that means for revenue," said Joe Shaker, CEO and Co-Founder of TruVideo.

"It's simple. If you don't show it, and you don't mention it, you won't sell it," Shaker added. "You need to commit to the inspection video process each and every time."

VQS provides dealerships with actionable visibility into top performer behaviors, team-wide challenges, and the direct link between video quality and customer decisions. By quantifying presentation effectiveness, it enables targeted coaching, process refinement, and revenue optimization at scale.

Video Quality Score is now available to TruVideo customers. The solution will be showcased at NADA Show 2026, Booth #4270W, where attendees can experience VQS in action and explore its impact on inspection quality and fixed operations performance.
