Strategic Role of the CAIO

As CAIO, Gundu will integrate machine learning into Fetch’s platform to enhance advertising personalization, improve product discoverability, and strengthen its core receipt scanning technology. He will also explore large language models (LLMs) to unlock new platform capabilities. “Gowtham has built ML systems that support some of the most sophisticated advertising operations in the world,” said Wes Schroll, CEO and Founder of Fetch. “He will help us take full advantage of the opportunity at our fingertips and build what others are only beginning to imagine.”

Gundu’s Expertise and Background

Gundu joins Fetch after 18 years at Google, where he served as Director of Engineering for Ads Content Safety, overseeing ML deployments for a $250 billion advertising ecosystem. His work ensured safer and more effective experiences for users, publishers, and advertisers. Gundu’s pioneering use of LLMs in Google Ads earned him multiple Ads Impact awards. “Fetch has a bold vision for how AI can redefine not just a product, but an entire category,” said Gundu. “There’s an incredible opportunity to leverage and even advance the state-of-the-art ML to solve some of the toughest challenges in the advertising industry—and turn those breakthroughs into better experiences for users and better business outcomes for brands.”

Fetch’s Commitment to AI Innovation

Fetch’s appointment of Gundu underscores its AI-first vision. In 2024, the company secured two U.S. patents for its AI- and ML-powered advertising technologies. In June 2025, Fetch hosted its first AI Week, pausing operations to foster AI fluency and drive platform innovation. This initiative reflects a cultural shift toward embedding AI across its operations, positioning Fetch to lead in the rewards and advertising sectors.

Fetch’s strategic move to appoint Gundu as CAIO signals its commitment to leveraging AI to transform the rewards industry. With Gundu’s expertise, Fetch is poised to deliver innovative, user-focused solutions and redefine advertising experiences for brands and consumers alike.
