The Association for Talent Development (ATD) and AI expert Josh Cavalier have announced a new collaboration to bring AI content and education to ATD's global community. The Applying AI in Learning and Development Certificate, a three-day program, aims to help talent development (TD) professionals master learning experience design using generative AI, transforming their approach to skill development and human performance.
The Applying AI in Learning and Development Certificate program is designed to equip TD professionals with practical skills to integrate generative AI into their work. Through hands-on training, learners will explore how AI impacts skill development and human performance, enabling them to design and deliver transformative learning experiences.
A pioneering leader with over 30 years in L&D, Josh Cavalier brings deep insights to the program, drawing from his upcoming book, Applying AI in Learning and Development: From Platforms to Performance (ATD Press, November 2025). “I will be sharing my L&D AI Ecosystem framework as a practical road map for integrating AI into the day-to-day work of TD professionals,” Cavalier noted. “I'm excited to partner with ATD's world-class Education team to help the global community of professionals skill up in this critical area,” he added.
ATD, the world’s largest association dedicated to talent development, supports professionals across more than 100 countries with over 200 courses. This collaboration addresses the urgent need for TD professionals to harness AI’s potential.
“This is critical time for professionals in our field to learn how to harness the power of AI,” said Tony Bingham, ATD president and CEO. “The TD field has an unprecedented opportunity to transform the way people learn and increase the efficiency and performance of their teams and organizations.”
The program will be offered four times in 2025, starting October 20-22 at the ATD Learning Center in Alexandria, Virginia. Each registrant receives a hard copy of Cavalier’s book, with limited seating requiring advanced registration. Additional offerings are planned for 2026.
This initiative strengthens ATD’s leadership in delivering cutting-edge education, empowering TD professionals to leverage AI for enhanced organizational performance and learning innovation.
The Association for Talent Development (ATD) is the world's largest professional membership organization supporting those who develop the knowledge and skills of employees, improve performance, and help to achieve results for the organizations they serve.
