Lemony, officially Uptime Industries Inc., announced the launch of its pioneering on-premise AI solution, Lemony AI, on June 11, 2025, in New York. Described as “AI in a Box,” this plug-and-play hardware node delivers enterprise-grade generative AI capabilities without cloud dependency, addressing privacy and compliance concerns. With partnerships from IBM, JetBrains, and Carahsoft, Lemony democratizes secure AI access for businesses across regulated industries like legal, finance, government, and healthcare.
Lemony launches secure, on-premise AI node on June 11, 2025.
Plug-and-play device runs LLMs, RAG, and AI agents locally, using 65 watts.
Supports up to 5 users per node, with stackable scalability for clusters.
Preloaded with 16 open-source models, including IBM’s Granite and Meta’s Llama.
Partnerships with IBM, JetBrains, and Carahsoft enhance enterprise and public sector adoption.
Priced at $499/month per node, with discounts for additional nodes.
Lemony’s hardware-based AI node, roughly the size of a sandwich, hosts a full AI stack, from large language models (LLMs) up to 75 billion parameters to retrieval-augmented generation (RAG) agents. Its stackable design allows businesses to create modular AI compute clusters, enabling seamless scaling. Employees can plug the device into a computer or local network, upload documents, and instantly access AI-driven insights from thousands of files, such as emails and PDFs, without cloud exposure. “We built Lemony to make enterprise AI simple, cost-effective, and secure,” said Sascha Buehrle, co-founder and CEO.
Designed for highly regulated sectors, Lemony eliminates cloud-related risks like data breaches and “shadow AI.” Manufactured in the U.S. and Europe, each node supports up to five users and comes with 16 high-performance open-source models, including IBM’s Granite family and Meta’s Llama variants. A federated approach allows teams to connect nodes securely, sharing knowledge within defined AI access policies, ensuring compliance with data privacy regulations. Quarterly USB updates keep the system current without compromising security.
Lemony’s launch is strengthened by key collaborations:
IBM integrates its enterprise-grade AI models, like Granite, for secure local deployment, reducing infrastructure costs.
JetBrains, serving 11.4 million developers, embeds its coding models, enabling secure, auditable software development with transparency in AI-generated code.
Carahsoft distributes Lemony nodes to U.S. public sector and healthcare clients, validating its readiness for mission-critical environments.
Starting as a side project to run language models on Raspberry Pis, Lemony evolved into a $2M seed-funded venture led by True Ventures. Priced at $499/month for up to five users, with discounts for additional nodes, Lemony offers an affordable entry point for businesses. Its low power consumption (65 watts) and no-setup design make it accessible to teams without specialized AI expertise, empowering small businesses and large enterprises alike.
Lemony has garnered attention for its simplicity and security, with posts on X highlighting its role in localized AI adoption. It’s already in use by legal firms processing 100% of documents securely, HR teams drafting contracts, and R&D departments accessing terabytes of data instantly. “Everything stays in your box,” Buehrle emphasized, ensuring no data leaves the device. While some question the need for dedicated hardware over cloud alternatives, Lemony’s focus on compliance and ease of use resonates with privacy-conscious sectors.
Lemony’s launch redefines on-premise AI, offering a secure, scalable, and user-friendly solution that empowers organizations to harness generative AI on their terms.
