Intellivo announced the appointment of Dhiraj Sankala as Chief AI and Technology Officer (CAITO), a newly created role.
Sankala brings more than 20 years of experience leading digital transformation and AI strategy across healthcare and financial services.
He previously served as CTO at Sift Healthcare and VP of Data Intelligence at Zelis, with nearly a decade at Nuance Communications.
Sankala will lead Intellivo's AI and technology platform strategy focused on scaling advanced detection capabilities through machine learning and cloud-native infrastructure.
Intellivo's platform uses a "reverse identification model" to detect recovery opportunities traditional subrogation methods overlook.
The platform analyzes property and casualty insurance data, legal suit filings, and liability intelligence signals to maximize reimbursement opportunities for health plans.
Intellivo's platform brings alternative liability coverage intelligence to health plan claims to detect recovery opportunities that traditional subrogation methods typically overlook. This "reverse identification model" helps health plans recover more dollars while protecting the member experience.
"Health plans should not have to choose between strong financial outcomes and a positive member experience," said Laura Hescock, CEO of Intellivo. "Our goal is simple: increase recoveries back to health plans without member abrasion of any kind. To ensure this, we continue to grow our executive team and invest in technology. Dhiraj brings deep expertise in AI, data platforms, and healthcare claims intelligence that will help us accelerate the next phase of our technology strategy and further strengthen our ability to uncover recovery opportunities others miss."
As CAITO, Sankala will lead Intellivo's AI and technology platform strategy, with a focus on scaling the company's advanced detection capabilities through machine learning, intelligent data ingestion, and a cloud-native infrastructure. His work will expand the platform's ability to analyze large volumes of property and casualty (P&C) insurance data, legal suit filings, and other liability intelligence signals to maximize reimbursement opportunities.
"Intellivo has built a powerful foundation by combining sophisticated data capabilities with deep expertise in subrogation and liability recovery," said Sankala. "By applying AI and advanced analytics to large volumes of P&C insurance data and legal filings, we can uncover liability coverage connections that are often invisible to traditional processes. This approach allows us to identify more recovery opportunities while protecting the experience of the members our clients serve."
Prior to joining Intellivo, Sankala served as chief technology officer at Sift Healthcare, where he led AI initiatives focused on healthcare claims intelligence and revenue cycle analytics. Previously, he was vice president of data intelligence at Zelis, overseeing technology supporting claims cost management, payment integrity, and provider network analytics. He also spent nearly a decade at Nuance Communications (now a Microsoft company) in progressive software engineering and data analytics leadership roles.
