Eaton, a global leader in intelligent power management, has partnered with NVIDIA to revolutionize AI data center infrastructure through high-voltage direct current (HVDC) power systems. Announced on July 15, 2025, this collaboration focuses on delivering innovative power management solutions tailored for high-density GPU deployments, addressing the escalating demands of AI workloads.
Eaton’s collaboration with NVIDIA aims to accelerate the adoption of 800V HVDC power infrastructure, designed to support AI data centers with racks exceeding 1 megawatt. “With our decades of expertise in electrical power management innovation and broad solution portfolio, Eaton is uniquely positioned to support the demands of data centers in the AI era,” said Heath Monesmith, president and chief operating officer (COO), Electrical Sector, Eaton. This partnership focuses on design best practices and reference architectures for NVIDIA’s Kyber rack-scale systems and Rubin Ultra GPUs, ensuring efficient power delivery for high-density computing environments.
As AI workloads drive unprecedented power requirements, traditional 54V DC systems face limitations due to inefficient conversions and high copper usage. Eaton’s HVDC solutions, developed with NVIDIA, streamline power distribution from grid to chip, reducing energy losses and enhancing reliability. With global data center capital expenditure projected to surpass $1 trillion by 2029, this collaboration positions Eaton to meet the scalability needs of AI-driven data centers, supporting training and inference workloads for advanced AI models.
Eaton’s grid-to-chip approach optimizes both white and gray space in data centers through intelligent power distribution, backup power solutions, and digital offerings. This strategy ensures continuous operations and energy efficiency in AI-driven environments. As part of the NVIDIA Partner Network, Eaton provides consultative services to help customers implement NVIDIA-based technologies, enhancing operational performance and sustainability. The collaboration also explores integration with NVIDIA’s Omniverse Blueprint for AI factory design, further advancing data center innovation.
Eaton’s partnership with NVIDIA marks a significant step toward sustainable and scalable AI data center infrastructure. By leveraging 800V HVDC technology, Eaton is helping to future-proof power management for the AI era, ensuring efficiency and reliability for enterprises worldwide.
