Enhanced Brand Safety Control on Google SPN

The Google Search Partner Network (SPN) encompasses a range of search-related websites and applications that enable advertisers to broaden their reach and increase conversions across both mobile and desktop platforms. IAS's newly launched Pre-Screen Brand Safety Solution allows advertisers to automatically exclude search partner sites that align with industry-standard definitions of brand safety and suitability. This exclusion process is applied across the entire list of SPN domains, providing a robust layer of protection.

Leveraging Trusted Third-Party Control

Lisa Utzschneider, CEO of IAS, emphasized the importance of this expansion, stating, "This expansion builds on our partnership with Google to provide global advertisers continued access to independent, and trusted, third party measurement and optimization solutions. IAS is committed to providing brands with greater transparency no matter where their digital media investments are being spent so they can confidently scale their campaigns across all channels and devices."

IAS's Pre-Screen Brand Safety Solution for SPN offers advertisers several key benefits:

  • Trusted Third-Party Control: The solution is built upon 12 industry-aligned brand safety and suitability standards. Regular weekly updates ensure that domains are consistently filtered to maintain brand safety across the SPN inventory.

  • Comprehensive Global Coverage: By extending its services to the Search Partner Network, IAS now provides performance and protection across the entire Google ecosystem, which includes YouTube, Google Video Partners, and SPN.

  • Support Across Campaign Types: Advertisers can utilize IAS's exclusion lists across all campaign types that incorporate SPN inventory, including Search, Standard Shopping, Apps, and Performance Max campaigns.

An Additional Layer of Brand Protection

When combined with Google's existing brand safety measures for the SPN, IAS's solution provides advertisers with an additional, independent layer of trusted third-party transparency and proactive control over where their ads appear. The launch of this Pre-Screen Brand Safety Solution represents the latest development in the ongoing collaboration between IAS and Google.

In 2024, IAS introduced IAS Optimization for YouTube, which aimed to maximize contextual suitability for advertisers on the platform through enhanced pre-screen controls. Prior to this, IAS had announced the expansion of its Brand Safety and Suitability Measurement product for YouTube to include reporting for Performance Max and Demand Gen campaigns, and also launched IAS Curation with Google Ad Manager.
