VARStreet Inc., a leading provider of business management software for IT and office-supply value-added resellers (VARs), has announced the integration of its platform with Microsoft Entra ID. Utilizing the SCIM (System for Cross-domain Identity Management) protocol, this integration allows administrators to automate user provisioning and deactivation from a single identity source. The update is designed to reduce administrative overhead and ensure that platform access consistently aligns with corporate identity policies.
Core Update: Automated user lifecycle management via SCIM protocol integration with Microsoft Entra ID.
Automation Workflow: Users are automatically created, updated, or deactivated in VARStreet based on their status in Microsoft Entra ID.
Record Protection: When a user is removed, open transactions and opportunities are automatically reassigned to the Master Admin.
Security & Compliance: Centralizes identity management, ensuring access is revoked immediately when an employee leaves the organization.
Validation Protocols: Includes email domain validation and enforcement of authorized user limits during the sync process.
Availability: Now available for all VARStreet BackOffice resellers in the USA and Canada.
The integration addresses one of the most time-consuming tasks for reseller organizations: manual user management across multiple platforms. By using Microsoft Entra ID as the "single source of truth," any changes made at the directory level—such as disabling an account or updating user details—are reflected in real-time within the VARStreet environment.
“Managing users across multiple platforms is one of the most time-consuming administrative tasks reseller organizations face,” said Shiv Agarwal, VP of Sales and Marketing at VARStreet Inc. “With SCIM integration, our resellers can now rely on Microsoft Entra ID as their single source of truth for user access, with changes reflected automatically in VARStreet.”
To ensure data integrity and security, the SCIM integration follows specific enterprise-grade logic:
One-Way Sync: Data flows exclusively from Microsoft Entra ID to VARStreet to maintain directory authority.
Email Domain Validation: The system only syncs users whose email domains match the verified Microsoft Entra ID domain, preventing unauthorized account creation.
Asset Reassignment: To prevent "orphaned" data, the system automatically reassigns a deactivated user's open records (quotes, opportunities, and documents) to the Master Admin.
User Limit Enforcement: The integration respects the reseller's subscription limits; if the authorized user cap is reached, new user provisioning will fail until the limit is adjusted.
This enhancement is the latest in a series of updates from VARStreet aimed at helping MSPs and system integrators operate more securely while reducing the friction of daily administrative tasks.
