CGI, one of the world's largest independent IT and business consulting firms, has announced a multi-year Strategic Collaboration Agreement (SCA) with Amazon Web Services (AWS). The partnership is designed to accelerate the adoption of trusted artificial intelligence (AI), secure cloud environments, and digital transformation across the U.S. public sector. By combining CGI’s deep mission-focused expertise with AWS’s advanced cloud infrastructure, the collaboration aims to provide scalable solutions for government, healthcare, education, and nonprofit organizations, specifically targeting complex challenges such as fraud prevention and legacy system modernization.
Trusted AI Adoption: Accelerates the use of AI for mission-critical analytics, operational decision support, and fraud detection.
Zero Trust Security: Strengthens cybersecurity architectures to protect sensitive government data against evolving global threats.
Data Interoperability: Focuses on unlocking value from government data by improving accessibility and advanced analytics across agencies.
Workforce Investment: Includes dedicated investments in cloud and AI training and certification for CGI’s global workforce.
Modernization Framework: Streamlines the transition from legacy environments to secure, cloud-native platforms.
Premier Tier Status: Leverages CGI’s status as an AWS Premier Tier Services partner with thousands of accredited professionals.
The collaboration addresses a critical need for "mission-speed" AI within the public sector. Unlike commercial applications, government AI must adhere to strict regulatory, security, and ethical standards. Through this agreement, CGI will utilize its "12 Weeks to AI" program and other strategic frameworks to help agencies prioritize use cases and mobilize roadmaps that maximize their technology investments. This ensures that emerging technologies like generative AI are deployed in a way that is both secure and impactful for citizen-focused services.
"This agreement enhances our proven ability to better serve government, education, nonprofit and healthcare organizations in the U.S.," said Tim Hurlebaus, President and Chief Operating Officer at CGI. "It enables us to co-deliver innovative and transformative solutions that meet the evolving needs of our clients."
The SCA is backed by CGI’s Global Alliances network, which includes more than 150 technology firms. By uniting with AWS, CGI is positioned to deliver a high-frequency picture of the digital labor market and technology landscape, helping agencies move beyond experimental AI toward production-ready applications. IDC Research Director Massimiliano Claps noted that the union of CGI’s mission expertise with AWS’s scale is expected to significantly improve operational agility and the delivery of secure, scalable public sector solutions.
"Government agencies need AI that works at mission speed," added David Levy, Vice President, Worldwide Public Sector at AWS. "This collaboration puts advanced cloud and AI capabilities directly into the hands of agencies tackling their toughest challenges."
