AI-Powered Autonomous Intelligence That Actually Delivers, with Arun Balasubramanian

Is this the moment AI Observability becomes mission-critical?

Arun Balasubramanian, Dynatrace MD India & SAARC, explains why the answer is yes, highlighting the urgency for unified, intelligent platforms that cut through noise and deliver business impact at speed. He further shares how this need is amplified by India’s rapid AI-led transformation and large-scale digital ambitions.

You’ve built your career spotting what’s next at some of the world’s top tech giants. What was the signal at Dynatrace that made you say, “This is it”?

What immediately stood out to me about Dynatrace was its deep alignment with where the digital world is headed: built for speed, born in the cloud, and powered by AI at its core. In markets like India, many organizations are skipping incremental legacy upgrades and building directly on AI-first foundations, which creates an urgent demand for intelligent, automated observability. Gartner predicts that over 50% of enterprises will adopt industry cloud platforms by 2028 to accelerate business initiatives, making observability a critical requirement rather than an optional capability.

Dynatrace delivers on that need with clarity and speed. Its AI is not just an add-on; it is purpose-built and deeply woven into how observability and security come together to provide proactive, full-stack visibility that ties directly to business outcomes. India’s digital public infrastructure is a clear example of this need at scale. India now leads the world in fast digital payments, with UPI processing over 18 billion transactions every month. In such real-time, high-volume environments, businesses don’t just need alerts; they need intelligent, actionable answers delivered instantly.

This platform is not just keeping up with change; it is helping to define how businesses operate in a digital-first world. That clear sense of purpose was the moment I knew this was the right place.

List the biggest shifts in the India and SAARC tech markets, from early digitization to AI-led transformation. How will you turn your deep regional insight into new opportunities for Dynatrace?

This region has moved beyond simply digitizing processes to embedding intelligence within them. Enterprises are adopting multi-cloud, AI-driven architectures and doing so at a scale rarely seen anywhere else. India’s AI market is projected to reach USD 17 billion by 2027, driven by soaring enterprise tech investments and the country’s unmatched depth of AI talent. Teams are no longer satisfied with fragmented tools; they want unified platforms that deliver both operational and business impact in real-time.

That is where Dynatrace truly stands apart. By connecting our AI-powered platform with the region’s bold digital vision and its deeply skilled technical talent, we have unlocked new use cases across sectors like finance, telecom, and healthcare. Having been in India for nearly a decade and working closely with some of the country’s largest banks, we understand the real challenges on the ground, from modernizing legacy core systems to scaling digital public infrastructure. India generates roughly 20% of global data, underlining the immense growth potential for cloud-native and AI-powered observability solutions. The real opportunity lies in helping organizations move beyond visibility to continuous, intelligent action.

With India projected to become the world's third-largest economy by 2028, driven by macroeconomic stability and large-scale infrastructure improvements, this growth further amplifies the region’s appetite for resilient, intelligent digital systems.

Dynatrace just launched its 3rd-generation platform. What advanced AI observability capabilities does it unlock?

Dynatrace’s 3rd-generation platform redefines observability for the AI era by combining a massively scalable data lakehouse (Grail) with advanced AI and automation. It enables real-time insights and autonomous actions across hybrid, multi-cloud, and AI-driven environments.

Key innovations include:

  • Cloud-native acceleration with self-service data access, visualizations, and the industry’s only scalable live debugger.
  • Agentic AI for preventive operations, guided troubleshooting, and natural language-powered automation via Davis CoPilot.
  • Next-gen log management with instant, contextual analysis at petabyte scale and simplified, always-on storage.

Together, these capabilities help teams turn observability data into business-impacting decisions and actions, paving the way for autonomous intelligence. India has rapidly embraced AI, with surveys showing higher adoption of AI tools in daily life than even the US and UK, making our platform highly relevant for enterprises in this region.

While legacy tools flood teams with alerts, Dynatrace promises answers. How do you frame this sharp difference when speaking to CIOs and CTOs?

I frame it as the shift from alert fatigue to intelligent clarity. Legacy tools generate noise, Dynatrace delivers prioritized insight, tied directly to business impact. Thanks to our causal AI, customers no longer need to sift through thousands of alerts; they get a clear, singular root cause and actionable recommendations. That distinction matters when seconds count.

How do you plan to strengthen Dynatrace’s signature strength — autonomous intelligence — while staying agile to the on-ground needs of customers in India and SAARC?

Our approach is to scale autonomy without losing local relevance. For example, the Davis AI engine enables high levels of automation and insight, but the key in this region is adaptability, especially with the hybrid complexity most enterprises operate in.

By aligning Dynatrace’s AI-driven capabilities with the on-ground realities of multi-cloud, legacy coexistence, and resource constraints, we can deliver autonomy that fits. And by leveraging our Cloud Security Posture Management (CSPM), Kubernetes Security Posture Management (KSPM), and CNAPP capabilities, we help enterprises remain resilient and secure while scaling automation. It’s not about applying automation blindly, but using it to enhance resilience, simplify operations, and support transformation with confidence.

Longer sales cycles. More stakeholders in the decision room. What’s your strategy to help Dynatrace rise above this complexity, especially in a market you know inside out?

Navigating complex buying environments requires us to speak not just to features, but to outcomes. In this region, where every stakeholder from CIOs to developers has a say, the message must land across multiple levels.

Our focus is on showing measurable value: fewer outages, faster innovation cycles, stronger customer experiences. With Dynatrace’s unified platform, we can demonstrate alignment to both strategic goals and day-to-day operational needs, helping us rise above the noise. This includes articulating how AI-driven observability not only supports faster innovation but also ensures compliance, security, and cost optimization — critical decision drivers in large Indian enterprises.

If “AI-powered” is now table stakes, what’s the next big leap? Where does Dynatrace pull ahead?

The next real step forward is not just about using AI to analyze data, but about enabling intelligent, autonomous action across the enterprise at scale, and this is exactly where Dynatrace is leading. Most platforms can surface insights, but what sets us apart is our ability to connect those insights to real-time business context and drive precise, automated responses that make a measurable impact.

We are no longer in the phase of simply observing what is happening across systems. With Davis AI and Grail working together, we have created a platform that enables preventive operations, real-time debugging, and intelligent automation that spans the entire technology stack. This is made possible by a deep integration of causal, predictive, and generative AI. It allows organizations to understand what is happening, why it is happening, what is likely to happen next, and what action should be taken, all in a continuous, closed loop.

As enterprises embed AI deeper into their core operations, what will differentiate the leaders is not how much data they can process, but how quickly and intelligently they can act on it. Precision, context, and speed are essential to running a resilient, adaptive, and high-performing digital business.
