Cognizant has announced a major expansion of its Synapse workforce development initiative, raising the target from one million to two million individuals upskilled globally by the end of 2030. Having already surpassed the original 2026 goal ahead of schedule, the company is intensifying its investment in large-scale skilling to prepare workers for an AI-disrupted future.
A recent Cognizant–Oxford Economics study found that 90 percent of jobs—from entry-level to executive—will be transformed by AI over the next decade. Synapse directly addresses this seismic shift by combining internal employee skilling, client training programs, apprenticeships, STEM education, and community outreach on an unprecedented scale.
"The expansion of our Synapse commitment marks a significant step toward building a more future-ready workforce. We are proud to have surpassed our initial goal ahead of schedule, a testament to the dedication of our teams and partners," said Ravi Kumar S., CEO of Cognizant. "Our bold commitment to reach two million individuals by 2030 reflects the essential role Cognizant plays in enabling people around the globe to thrive in the AI-powered age and participate in the prosperity that this digital transformation brings."
Building on its five existing pillars (Skills Accelerator, Technology Partnerships, Apprenticeships, Community Education, and Employee Skilling), Cognizant will broaden impact through:
By mobilizing its 340,000+ global associates and extensive partner ecosystem, Cognizant is setting a new corporate benchmark for inclusive, AI-era workforce readiness.
