Jim Giles’ Background and Expertise

Giles joins Indeed from Google, where he served as Vice President of Engineering and led teams responsible for widely used productivity tools including Docs, Sheets, Slides, and Drive—products that reach more than a billion users globally. During his tenure, he played a key role in shifting Google Workspace toward an AI-first strategy and established the Workspace AI platform to support AI development and seamless cross-product experiences.

Prior to his most recent position, Giles held various senior engineering leadership roles at Google and earlier served as a Distinguished Engineer at IBM. He earned a Ph.D. in Electrical and Computer Engineering from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.
