Koard, a payments infrastructure provider, now enables its U.S. platform customers - such as Payment Service Providers (PSPs), Independent Sales Organizations (ISOs), and Independent Software Vendors (ISVs)—to integrate Apple's Tap to Pay on iPhone. This allows their merchant clients to accept contactless payments using only an iPhone, eliminating the need for additional payment terminals.

Quick Intel

  • Koard enables U.S. PSPs, ISOs, and ISVs to offer Tap to Pay on iPhone to their merchants.

  • Merchants can accept contactless cards and digital wallets using only an iPhone.

  • No additional hardware or payment terminal is required.

  • Koard provides a comprehensive SDK and white-label implementation support.

  • The solution is designed for easy integration and App Store submission guidance.

  • It uses iPhone's built-in NFC technology and security features.

Democratizing Contactless Payment Acceptance
This move allows payment platforms to quickly offer a modern, hardware-free payment acceptance method to their small and medium business merchants. By integrating Koard's SDK, these platforms can empower merchants to turn a compatible iPhone (XS or later) into a payment terminal, reducing upfront costs and complexity.

A Developer-First Integration Approach
Koard's offering is centered on providing the tools and support for its platform customers to seamlessly embed the functionality. The focus is on flexibility, including white-labeled options and resources to guide developers through the integration and App Store approval process.

Security and Ease of Use
The solution leverages Apple's built-in security, where payment data is not stored on the device or Apple servers. For merchants, setup and use are designed to be intuitive—simply opening their platform's iOS app and holding a customer's contactless payment method near the iPhone to complete a transaction.

"Tap to Pay on iPhone is being considered by many platforms as a new option for in-person payments," said Sesie Bonsi, Chief Innovation Officer at Koard. "Our program offers an SDK and support resources... The goal is to help customers explore opportunities to provide merchants with a seamless payment acceptance experience."

By facilitating this integration, Koard is helping to expand access to advanced payment technologies, allowing a broader range of payment platforms and their merchants to meet evolving consumer preferences for fast, secure, contactless transactions.
