Ookla, the global leader in connectivity intelligence, has launched Speedtest Pulse, a new diagnostic device designed to redefine network validation and troubleshooting for internet service providers and enterprises. This tool leverages two decades of Speedtest expertise to bridge a critical gap in technician toolkits, offering a scalable and easy-to-use solution that provides clear, actionable insights. By delivering definitive proof of performance, it aims to reduce costly repeat service visits and significantly boost customer satisfaction.
Ookla has launched Speedtest Pulse, a network diagnostic device for ISPs and enterprises.
It features two modes: Active Pulse for instant validation and Continuous Pulse for long-term monitoring.
The tool translates complex network data into simple, actionable recommendations for technicians.
It helps pinpoint issues to the inbound service, local Wi-Fi, or a specific client device.
The goal is to solve problems on the first visit, reducing operational costs.
It leverages Ookla's global server network for accurate last-mile performance measurement.
The launch addresses a major pain point in an era where Wi-Fi is critical infrastructure. Technicians have historically been caught between overly simplistic apps and prohibitively expensive expert systems. Speedtest Pulse is designed as a middle ground, putting advanced diagnostic capabilities directly into a technician's hands. Stephen Bye, President and CEO of Ookla, highlighted this, stating, “Technicians have been forced to choose between overly simple apps and cost-prohibitive expert systems. Speedtest Pulse is the solution the industry has been waiting for."
The device's power lies in its two operational modes. Active Pulse enables technicians to run a single, guided test to instantly validate a new installation or pinpoint the source of a problem, providing a definitive performance report for the customer. It clearly identifies whether an issue lies with the inbound internet service, the local Wi-Fi network, or a specific client device.
The upcoming Continuous Pulse mode, slated for 2026, acts as a "leave-behind" tool that autonomously collects performance data. This helps establish baselines and identify intermittent problems or performance degradation before users notice them, breaking the cycle of hard-to-reproduce issues. This dual approach empowers technicians to be more effective and provides enterprises with a scalable solution for managing network performance across multiple sites, ultimately leading to a more reliable user experience and improved operational efficiency.
