ManageEngine Endpoint Central Adds EDR and Secure Private Access

ManageEngine has expanded its unified endpoint management and security (UEMS) platform, Endpoint Central, by natively integrating endpoint detection and response (EDR) and secure private access capabilities. This creates the first fully integrated platform combining UEM, endpoint security (EPP with EDR), digital employee experience (DEX), and Zero Trust access to internal applications—all from a single lightweight agent and centralized console.

Quick Intel

  • Introduces AI-powered behavioral analytics for early detection of sophisticated threats like file-less malware and living-off-the-land attacks.
  • Enables automated remediation including device isolation, process termination, ransomware rollback, and patch-driven vulnerability fixes directly from the console.
  • Enforces context-aware Zero Trust access to intranet applications based on device trust verification, identity policies, and real-time posture checks.
  • Provides deep visibility into attack chains by correlating telemetry across processes, files, registry, and network activity, mapped to MITRE ATT&CK framework.
  • Offers AI-guided threat hunting and investigation with surfaced patterns and relevant telemetry to accelerate analyst workflows.
  • Consolidates fragmented tools into one platform, reducing complexity, shrinking attacker dwell time, and minimizing blast radius from endpoint incidents.

Distributed workforces and sprawling device fleets have made endpoints the central hub for operations and the primary attack vector. Fragmented tooling for management, protection, and access creates gaps, while AI-assisted threats like ransomware scale rapidly. Legacy VPN models grant excessive network access post-authentication, expanding risk. Enterprises increasingly demand unified, AI-driven platforms that consolidate functions for faster detection, response, and resilient access control.

Endpoint Central addresses these challenges by unifying threat intelligence, response actions, and access enforcement. IT and security teams gain shared endpoint telemetry for cross-domain insights, streamlined investigations, and direct remediation within existing management workflows.

“Endpoint security has become a speed problem: enterprises need to detect and contain threats earlier while enforcing Zero Trust access to internal applications when credentials are compromised,” said Chirag Mehta, vice president and principal analyst at Constellation Research. “Bringing EDR together with device-trust-based access controls helps shrink attacker dwell time and reduce the blast radius from endpoint-driven incidents.”

“As enterprise environments become more distributed, the endpoint has become the enforcement point for both threat detection and access control,” said Mathivanan Venkatachalam, vice president at ManageEngine. “With these capabilities, we’re helping organizations shift from reactive security to autonomous resilience—enabling earlier threat detection and faster remediation while ensuring only trusted devices access critical resources.”

Advanced Detection and Response Features

The EDR integration delivers enriched telemetry correlation and MITRE-mapped visibility into attacker tactics. AI-driven detection identifies evasive behaviors early, while unified response actions—such as isolation, termination, ransomware file restoration, and automated patching—enable rapid containment and recovery.

Secure Private Access with Zero Trust

Context-aware policies grant access to internal applications only to verified, trusted devices. This replaces broad VPN connectivity with granular, identity- and posture-based controls, reducing lateral movement risk.

Endpoint Central maintains strong industry validation, including AV-Comparatives Approved Business Product certification for low-impact malware protection, Challenger status in the 2026 Gartner Magic Quadrant for Endpoint Management Tools, Leader in the IDC MarketScape: Worldwide Unified Endpoint Management Software 2025–2026, and Customers’ Choice in the 2025 Gartner Peer Insights Voice of the Customer for Endpoint Management Tools.

The new EDR and secure private access capabilities are available immediately as an add-on to Endpoint Central.
