The standard for enterprise data protection and cyber resilience is being redefined with a major platform update. Veeam Software, the global leader in data resilience, has launched Veeam Data Platform v13. This groundbreaking release introduces advanced security capabilities, including integrated threat scanning, AI-powered malware analysis, and immutable-by-default backups, designed to help organizations outsmart modern cyber threats and ensure rapid, reliable recovery.

Quick Intel

  • Veeam Data Platform v13 launches with a focus on advanced cyber resilience.

  • It integrates Recon Scanner 3.0 for real-time threat visibility and forensics.

  • A new AI agent automatically detects and classifies malware in backups.

  • Backups are now immutable by default to align with ransomware best practices.

  • It introduces a Universal Hypervisor Integration API for future-proof compatibility.

  • The platform offers instant recovery to Microsoft Azure and a modern web console.

Integrating Advanced Threat Detection and Forensics

A cornerstone of v13 is the deep integration of Recon Scanner 3.0, powered by Coveware by Veeam, directly into the platform. This tool provides real-time operational threat visibility, flagging suspicious activity like brute force attacks and unexpected network connections. It collects forensic data, maps findings to the MITRE ATT&CK framework, and seamlessly integrates with Veeam ONE Threat Center and Microsoft Sentinel for a unified security operations view. This helps teams triage faster and reduce alert fatigue with context-rich findings.

Leveraging AI for Malware Analysis and Secure Recovery

The platform introduces an intelligence-driven Malware Analysis AI Agent that automatically detects, classifies, and reports on malware and suspicious activity within the backup environment. This provides actionable intelligence and guided remediation to ensure that data recovered after an incident is clean and trusted, addressing a critical concern in ransomware recovery scenarios.

Expanding Flexibility and Recovery Capabilities

Beyond security, v13 significantly expands workload coverage and recovery options. It introduces Instant Recovery to Microsoft Azure, enabling rapid restoration of critical workloads directly into the cloud. A key innovation is the Universal Hypervisor Integration API, a first-of-its-kind framework that allows any hypervisor vendor to integrate natively with Veeam's capabilities, future-proofing customer environments against new virtualization technologies. “With Veeam Data Platform v13, we are resetting the standard for data resilience,” said Anand Eswaran, CEO of Veeam Software.

Veeam Data Platform v13 represents a fundamental evolution, merging robust data protection with proactive security intelligence. By making advanced threat detection, AI analysis, and immutable storage core components of its platform, Veeam is providing organizations with a comprehensive toolkit to achieve radical resilience in an era of relentless cyber threats.
