Mirantis has announced its Silver Membership in the Linux Foundation's newly established Agentic AI Foundation (AAIF). This move underscores the company's commitment to shaping the open-source standards and tools that will underpin the next generation of autonomous, enterprise-scale AI systems, with a particular focus on the evolving Model Context Protocol (MCP).
Mirantis has joined the Linux Foundation's Agentic AI Foundation (AAIF) as a Silver Member to help guide the development of open-source agentic AI.
The AAIF's inaugural projects include AGENTS.md, goose, and the Model Context Protocol (MCP), aiming to create a shared ecosystem of tools and standards.
Mirantis will leverage its membership to participate in working groups and committees, applying its expertise to help enterprises implement MCP technology.
The company recently launched its MCP AdaptiveOps framework, a production-ready system for building and operating MCP servers that ensures interoperability.
This initiative aligns with Mirantis's "metal-to-model" AI offering, which helps enterprises deploy private LLMs and AI agents that access sensitive data.
The company aims to reduce uncertainty in the fast-moving MCP ecosystem and accelerate enterprise adoption of agentic AI.
The Agentic AI Foundation was formed to provide a neutral, collaborative environment for the transparent evolution of autonomous AI capabilities. By joining as a Silver Member, Mirantis gains a seat at the table, enabling participation in general meetings, working groups, and technical steering committees. This allows the company to directly influence the foundational technologies that will "transform and revolutionize entire industries," as described by the Linux Foundation.
"With MCP governance transitioning to the open source community, we expect even more rapid adoption and accelerated development of the technology," said Randy Bias, vice president of open source strategy and technology at Mirantis. "So, at this nascent stage of AI and MCP technology, we’re applying our expertise to help enterprises at whatever level is needed."
Mirantis's involvement is grounded in practical enterprise needs. In September, the company launched its MCP AdaptiveOps framework, designed as a safe and reliable way for engineering teams to build, operate, and future-proof MCP servers. The framework abstracts the complexity and uncertainty of the rapidly evolving ecosystem of registries, gateways, and LLM routers, ensuring interoperability and compliance as standards mature.
This tooling is a core component of Mirantis's broader "metal-to-model" k0rdent AI offering, which delivers a full stack for enterprises requiring AI agents connected to private, sensitive data. The company brings its extensive experience in production operations for highly regulated industries and cloud-native infrastructure to support complex AI workloads.
The membership is a strategic alignment of Mirantis's business focus with a critical open-source movement. Agentic AI, where systems can autonomously make decisions and coordinate actions, represents a significant evolution beyond simple AI assistants. The Model Context Protocol is a key enabler, allowing AI agents to securely connect to and utilize data from diverse external sources and tools.
By contributing to the AAIF and developing enterprise-grade operational frameworks like MCP AdaptiveOps, Mirantis positions itself as a crucial bridge between cutting-edge open-source innovation and the practical, secure, scalable deployment demands of large organizations.
Mirantis's entry into the Agentic AI Foundation signals a maturation point for enterprise AI, where infrastructure providers are actively engaging to standardize the operational layer for autonomous systems. This collaboration between a seasoned enterprise infrastructure company and a leading open-source foundation is poised to accelerate the responsible adoption of agentic AI, providing the governance and production-ready tooling that businesses require to move from experimentation to implementation with confidence.
