PortPro, a provider of transportation management systems (TMS) for the drayage industry, has announced the launch of AI Agents. These new in-system tools are designed to reduce manual work, surface key insights, and automate daily tasks for drayage carriers and brokers, helping them navigate the challenges of shifting freight volumes, rising costs, and tariff uncertainties. Unlike traditional software that follows pre-coded rules, PortPro's AI Agents utilize artificial intelligence to understand user intent, process data, and make dynamic decisions directly within the PortPro TMS.
The current freight environment presents significant challenges for drayage carriers and brokers, including fluctuating freight volumes, increasing costs, and the impact of tariff uncertainty on profit margins. To help address these pressures, PortPro has introduced AI Agents as digital tools capable of thinking, learning, and taking actions on behalf of users. These agents are integrated directly into PortPro’s Transportation Management System (TMS), offering a solution that simplifies operations, reduces repetitive work, and enables faster responses without the need for additional systems or complex integrations.
PortPro's AI Agents are accessible through a user-friendly chat interface, allowing users to easily ask operational questions, retrieve real-time insights, and automate common tasks. This includes actions such as checking the status of container returns, validating document attachments to loads, and confirming rates before invoicing. Because everything happens within the PortPro TMS, users avoid the time-consuming processes of building reports, switching between different applications, or requiring additional development work.
A key advantage of PortPro's AI Agents is their seamless integration within the existing TMS platform. Customers can readily activate pre-built agents from the AI Marketplace or create custom workflows tailored to their team's specific operational processes. This eliminates the need for external tools or custom engineering, allowing teams to scale their efficiency using the tools they are already familiar with.
Michael Mecca, CEO of PortPro, emphasized the goal of these new tools, stating, “This isn’t about adding new layers of tech it’s about removing friction. When tariffs shift and volumes drop, staying lean and responsive matters more than ever. AI Agents help our customers cut down the noise and stay focused on the work that drives results.”
Recognizing the challenging business climate for drayage carriers, PortPro is offering its customers free access to AI Agents through July 31, 2025. This initiative aims to help lighten the operational load and boost efficiency for companies navigating the current complexities of the freight industry.
