The strategic alliance between Snowflake and Amazon Web Services (AWS) has reached a significant commercial and technical inflection point. Snowflake has announced it surpassed $2 billion in sales through the AWS Marketplace within a calendar year, doubling its transaction growth year-over-year. This milestone coincides with new technical integrations designed to break down data silos and accelerate the deployment of interoperable, AI-ready data architectures for joint enterprise customers.
Snowflake's sales through AWS Marketplace have exceeded $2 billion in a calendar year, with year-over-year transaction growth doubling.
The company received 14 AWS Partner Awards, including Global Data & Analytics, GenAI Tools, and Infrastructure Technology Partner of the Year.
New integrations aim to create open, AI-ready data architectures, linking Snowflake Cortex Agents with Amazon Bedrock AgentCore.
Catalog federation between AWS Glue Data Catalog and Snowflake Horizon Catalog minimizes data duplication and movement costs for Iceberg-format data.
Major customers like Booking.com and DraftKings leverage the combined platform for scalable, governed AI and data insights.
The collaboration focuses on simplifying procurement via AWS Marketplace and providing a seamless, governed path to AI innovation.
The $2 billion milestone underscores the critical role of streamlined procurement in cloud and AI adoption. AWS Marketplace provides enterprises with consolidated billing and simplified workflows, allowing them to deploy Snowflake's AI Data Cloud within their existing AWS environments rapidly. This frictionless purchasing model has been a key growth driver, enabling global scale. Mike Gannon, Chief Revenue Officer at Snowflake, stated, “Crossing the $2 billion mark in AWS Marketplace and being recognized as a leading Global Partner reflects how deeply our innovations resonate with customers in the AI era.”
Beyond commerce, the partnership is advancing technical interoperability to prevent vendor lock-in and data silos. Key new integrations include connecting Snowflake Cortex Agents with Amazon Bedrock AgentCore for enhanced AI agent capabilities. Furthermore, catalog federation between AWS Glue Data Catalog and Snowflake Horizon Catalog allows unified discovery and governance of Apache Iceberg-format data across both platforms without costly movement. Support for the Iceberg V3 table spec also expands data type interoperability, including semi-structured and geospatial data.
The platform's value is validated by transformative use cases across regulated and data-intensive industries. Thomas Davey, Chief Data Officer at Booking.com, noted, “The combination of Snowflake’s AI Data Cloud and AWS’s trusted infrastructure gives us the flexibility and scalability to experiment, personalize, and innovate faster—while maintaining the performance, security, and governance controls our business demands.” Similarly, DraftKings leverages the combination for the scale and rigor needed in a dynamic, regulated environment.
The commercial success is mirrored in industry recognition, with Snowflake earning 14 AWS Partner Awards. These accolades, particularly in Data & Analytics, Generative AI Tools, and Infrastructure, underscore the depth of the technical collaboration. Ruba Borno, VP of Global Specialists & Partners at AWS, linked the sales growth directly to reducing procurement friction, stating, "AWS Marketplace enables organizations to streamline software purchasing... This milestone reflects our shared commitment to making it easier for customers to discover, purchase, and deploy the data and AI solutions they need."
This evolution from a primarily commercial relationship to a deeply integrated, open technical standard-bearer positions the Snowflake-AWS alliance as a dominant force for enterprise AI. It provides a blueprint for building scalable, governed, and interoperable data architectures that can accelerate AI from experimentation to production.
