Building a Unified Telco Cloud Foundation

By combining Red Hat OpenShift Platform Plus, Red Hat OpenStack Platform, Red Hat OpenShift Virtualization, and Red Hat Ansible Automation Platform, Bell gains a consistent, open hybrid cloud environment that spans IT, network, and media workloads. This unified approach allows Bell to modernize traditional virtualized workloads, migrate to a dual foundation of OpenStack and OpenShift Virtualization, and automate operations at scale.

The collaboration supports key priorities for telcos:

  • Modernizing legacy workloads while maintaining operational consistency.
  • Ensuring digital sovereignty through control over data residency and infrastructure integrity across hybrid environments.
  • Expanding automation capabilities to streamline processes and improve efficiency.

“Telecommunications has evolved into a high-stakes technology race. For our customers, including Bell Canada, leveraging a unified hybrid cloud foundation enables faster and more efficient evolution of next generation 5G and network services,” said Gino Grano, global vice president, Americas Communication Service Provider Segment, Red Hat. “Red Hat continues to work with service providers all over the world, helping them turn technical agility into market leadership, deploying next-generation 5G and network services with speed and efficiency.”

“Extending our collaboration with Red Hat underscores the trust we place in their open hybrid cloud technologies to support the evolution of our networks, helping Bell deliver reliable, high-performance services and continue innovating for our customers,” said Mark McDonald, Executive Vice President and Chief Technology Officer, Bell.

Red Hat’s telco solutions continue to empower service providers globally to build agile, scalable networks that meet the demands of 5G, edge computing, and beyond.
