ISN, a global provider of contractor and supplier information management services, has introduced Hazard Assistant, a new AI-powered feature within its Empower app designed to improve hazard identification and support safer jobsite operations. The tool uses AI photo analysis technology trained with guidance from ISN’s Health & Safety team to help workers identify potential hazards, recognize energy sources, assess risks, and implement appropriate safety controls.
Hazard Assistant expands ISN’s workplace safety technology portfolio by integrating AI-driven hazard analysis directly into the Empower app. The feature enables workers to upload jobsite photos, allowing the platform to detect potential hazards and classify them based on primary energy sources referenced in the Energy Wheel framework.
The technology was developed with input from ISN’s Health & Safety team and is intended to help organizations improve proactive risk recognition across industrial and contractor-heavy environments. By combining AI analysis with worker oversight, ISN aims to help businesses strengthen jobsite safety processes while maintaining human decision-making in critical safety assessments.
“Effective hazard identification is a critical step toward the prevention of serious injuries and fatalities,” said Marie Anderson, Chief Customer Success Officer at ISN. “Hazard Assistant equips workers with an innovative tool to assess jobsite hazards in real-world conditions, adding a layer of AI-driven analysis to help workers visualize risks, while incorporating human input to determine the appropriate solution.”
Beyond hazard detection, Hazard Assistant includes several built-in resources designed to support ongoing workplace safety improvements. Workers can add written or voice-to-text descriptions to provide contextual information such as weather conditions, site-specific details, and operational risks.
The platform also generates shareable PDF summaries that outline identified hazards, classify energy sources aligned with the Energy Wheel, and recommend safety controls. These reports are intended to help teams distribute and document safety insights across jobsites more efficiently.
Additionally, Hazard Assistant connects users to relevant Toolbox Talks™ resources available within the Empower app. These AI-generated materials include safety briefings, discussion points, and training content tailored to identified jobsite hazards.
Alongside the launch of Hazard Assistant, ISN announced the availability of 10 Safety Function online training courses focused on Energy-Based Safety fundamentals. The company said the training modules are designed to give contractors streamlined access to educational resources that support hazard recognition and high-risk safety control practices.
The launch reflects broader industry efforts to integrate AI-powered safety tools into industrial operations, contractor management, and workforce risk mitigation programs. As organizations continue adopting digital workplace safety technologies, tools that combine AI analysis with operational training are becoming increasingly important for proactive safety management.
